ZyXEL MWR102 Travel Router

I recently received the ZyXEL Travel Router for evaluation purposes. The ZyXEL MWR102 Wireless-N Travel Router is a pocket sized router that is perfect for those who want to travel. The device features

150 Mbps Wire-N device

Dual operational mode-Router and Access Point

USB powered for mobility

Post-It size small design

Dedicated to Wan & Lan ports.

It is also extremely reasonably priced $40 MSRP.

ZyXEL MWR-102 Package

The package includes the travel router, power adapter, USB Cable, Ethemet Cable, Carrying Bag and Quick Start Guide. The travel router is ideal for people on the go or business or occasional travelers.

I will be honest it took me several tries to get the router to work. It has to be plugged directly into a modem or Ethernet Cable, and the device to work. I did talk to someone at tech support who was extraordinarily friendly and helped me hook it up. It did work on my laptop but having it plugged in to the modem, and the laptop was not terribly practical for me to use. I could see how it would be beneficial for those who are in a hotel and have access to the Ethernet Cable to connect the router to use for internet access. Please don’t confuse this with a hotspot ; is not a hotspot for WiFi or anything like that. If your dad or husband, travels a lot for business, this is an affordable Father’s Day gift option. 1. I love how small it is – would be great to just slip in your pocket – thank you for the fab review ๐Ÿ™‚ x

  2. Somehow I don’t think I will ever need this and the person I know who travels a lot-well I no longer work there–I hate to admit it–but I am totally confused by these kind of high tech stuff!!

  3. My fiance would LOVE this and I believe I would too!! I can’t go anywhere without internet (other than running to the store and so forth) I have to check this out!! Thanks for the heads up, I had no clue anything like that was available! This may just be added to “I – Wanna” list hehe ๐Ÿ˜€

  4. I don’t understand when this item would be useful. Most hotels I stay at have wireless internet. The only reason I could see needing this is if you have an older laptop that doesn’t have a built-in wireless card. Perhaps I am missing a more obvious reason?

  5. We will love this product because we love to travel either leisure or business trip

  6. This is something I could use for real!! We do a lot of traveling and it can get very expensive to hook up to a motels internet service. Some offer it for free,… but not all.

  7. That is way too cool. It’s nice to have a travel size router, so convenient to have it

  8. Mel Cole says:

How cool that you got a router so anywhere you go, you’re connected to something free wifi out there.

  9. very cool

Interesting. I travel to my parents often and they refuse to get wireless – I could see something like this coming in handy for my visits to them.

  14. handy and portable. that’s a cool product. great for heavy internet users.
