Spread the love

I have a wonderful recipe to share with you that is perfect for Halloween.

If you like sugar cookies you will love this recipe!  Spencer and I first made these for Halloween 11 years ago! I have no idea where I even got this recipe but it is one of our favorite sugar cookie recipes. Here is the recipe on how to make spiced sugar cookies.

How To Make Spiced Sugar Cookies

We still have a great time decorating the cookies,  Spencer even made an Incredible Hulk ghost.

Here is what you need to make these ghoulish cookies:

2 3/4 cups of all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup butter (softened)

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

1 large egg

 Directions:
1. In a bowl add flour and baking soda, stir gently and set aside.

2. In a mixing bowl, blend butter and powdered sugar together (I use a hand mixer).

3. Add in pumpkin pie spice, vanilla and egg, mix until combine.

4. Slowly add flour and baking soda mixture to mixing bowl, blend well.

5. Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

6. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface, cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.

7. Bake at 350 degrees on ungreased cookie sheet for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool completely before decorating.
