DIY Valentine’s Day Mesh Wreath decoration for your home.

Spencer and I were out shopping for craft supplies, and I stumbled upon mesh ribbon. I am sure you have probably seen the gorgeous wreaths made out of it by now they are absolutely beautiful! Since I love making different things, I decided I would give it a try.  It is a simple project that requires a little time (less than an hour).

Valentine's Day Mesh Wreath

Here is what I used to make mine:

Valentine's Day Wreath

18′ Wire wreath

2 rolls of heart wire ribbon

Chenille stems ?

1 roll red mesh ribbon (21 in wide)

1 roll white mesh ribbon (5 1/2 in wide)

Step 1:

Cut chenille stems in half.

Step 2:
Gather end of red mesh while still on the roll and another section approximately 4″-6″ from end. Pull gathered sections together and tie onto wreath form with chenille stems.

Step 3:
Gather another section approximately 4″-6″ from the last and tie onto wire wreath form.

Step 4:
Continue this until the inside ring is covered. Switch colors after several sections are gathered.

Step 5:
Repeat Steps 3-4 for the outside ring.

Step 6:
Tie end of mesh with a chenille stem to the outside ring where the bow will be.

Step 7:
Make a multi-loop bow with both ribbons and secure center with a chenille stem. Tie onto wire wreath with the chenille stem. Tuck or trim excess chenille stems and / or ribbon.

Step 8:
Run ribbon through wreath, tucking in as desired.

Viola! A gorgeous Valentine’s Day wreath! My wreath is quite big but if you want to create a smaller wreath just get a smaller wire wreath.

  1. This turned out really cute, and reminds me that I still haven’t bought a Valentine’s Day wreath!

  2. Robin (Masshole Mommy) says:

That is the cutest thing. I don’t have any Valentine’s Decorations – at all – and this is so easy that I think I could make it and not mess it up 🙂

  3. You know… right after Christmas I seen that red mesh on Clearance in a store near me. Now I wish I would have bought it. That is such a cute idea.

  4. that is so cute and seems pretty easy to do may need to try this

  5. This is so pretty! I am kicking myself for not buying the red mesh after Christmas on clearance now. I may have to run to Michael’s to see if they have any left. I want to make one!

  6. Looks really nice. You did a great job! 🙂 Pinned! 🙂

  7. I like to make wreaths, I usually just think to do it around Christmas.
Like the Valentine Day idea too.

  8. Georgia Beckman says:

Is the mesh hard to work with? I’ve avoided it thus far because it seems like it would be very scratchy on the hands.

    • Hi Georgia, the mesh isn’t hard to work with. It is actually really easy to shape and isn’t really bad for your hands. I understand your concern because I have really dry, sensitive hands and I did OK with it.

  9. I absolutely love DIY projects and this is by far really cute. Great share! 🙂

  10. With Valentines Day right around the corner this is absolutely perfect. This would be great for my door!

  11. Simple and creative. I love this idea.
