Battling Holiday Boredom: Fabulous Family Outings To Keep Every Parent Sane

Spread the love

School’s out, and for many of us, this means keeping kids occupied for the next few weeks. It’s great to be able to spend time together as a family. But battling boredom is a challenge every parent must overcome in the holidays. Here are some fabulous family outing suggestions to keep you sane this summer.

Animal encounters

Most kids love animals, and the holidays are a great opportunity to visit zoos, wildlife parks, and farms. Do some research online to find attractions in your local area and see if there are special events planned for the summer. At many places, you can now buy experiences, or interact with smaller animals. Head to the website and plan your visit. You can find out exactly what’s on offer, and you may be able to save money on gate prices.

Beach days

If you live close to the beach, take advantage of it this summer. You can enjoy incredible family days out at the beach. All you need is cool drinks, games, and plenty of sunscreen. Invite friends along and set up beach cricket, volleyball or boules. Take some flippers and masks and go snorkeling, or try out water skiing or wind sailing. Take your rollerblades and go for a wander along the promenade, or hit the arcades. If you’re celebrating a special occasion and you want to push the boat out, why not join a dolphin spotting or whale watching cruise?

Theme parks

Theme parks are the epitome of fun days out. Enjoy the adrenaline rush as you twist and turn on the waltzers or ride the rollercoaster. Brave the haunted house or get wet on the log flume. Pose with your favorite film characters or try and win a prize to take home. If you are visiting a theme park, have a look on ticket prices online. You can often save by booking in advance. If you’re going with family or friends, you may be able to get group discount.

Museums and galleries

Many kids will moan that museums are boring. But if you choose the right ones, museums and galleries can provide fantastic family days out. In the holidays, you’ll find that many museums put on events and themed exhibitions for kids. Many also offer free entry. Keep up to date with event listings online, and follow social media accounts for the latest news. Look out for child-friendly museums, which have interactive displays.

Action and adventure

Do you love the outdoors? If so, the summer holidays are the perfect time of year to explore lakes, forests, and mountains and try new activities. Take bikes or kayaks with you, or go for a hike. Cool down with a swim in the lake or try your hand to rock climbing. You can usually hire equipment at larger national parks.

The holidays are all about spending quality time together and having fun. You don’t need to organize excursions every day. But it’s wonderful to get out and about and enjoy each other’s company. Try and plan ahead, and make use of the natural surroundings. Do some research to find out what’s going on in the local area, and try and book tickets online to save money.
