Here is another great book review from Spencer! The book this week is The Selection by Kiera Cass.

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn’t want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself–and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Let me start off with saying this book is not something I would normally read. The Selection is a young adult dystopian romance. The book has a lot of mixed reviews. I took a chance on it and I am really glad I did. The book was excellent. The book follows the America Singer while she is chosen to be in “The Selection”. The selection is a competition between 35 girls who are trying to be the prince’s wife. She isn’t excited to be going because she would rather just say with her family. She doesn’t think she will like the prince and his family. Once she gets there though she starts to change her mind. The writing was very concise and it was a really fast read. I finished the book in less than a day. I would recommend this book if you like young adult or dystopian book. I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
